Today I’ve done the Wally Micro Wallet review and yes I really love it. Who wouldn’t love a minimalist wallet made for both the modern man and woman? The Wally Micro Minimalist wallet is a slim sleeve wallet made by a wallet brand called Distill Union.
Distil Union is an independent design studio, started back in 2011 with crowdfunded money and desire to make awesome wallets. The wally micro wallet is one of their most successful products. Thank you Distil.
Who is the Wally Micro Wallet for?
If you are the type of person that tends to carry around a lot of cards but hate the bulk then this wallet is for you. It is less than 0.5 inches thick when packed with about 5 cards and is suitable for the front pocket.
Carrying a bulky wallet in your back pocket can misalign your spine, therefore, more people find it much better to carry a front pocket minimalist wallet.
The minimalist wallet is very small, as its name suggests, micro but packs a big punch. According to the brand, the wally micro is capable of storing up to ten cards to be specific. That is a lot of cards for such a small wallet.
Even though Distil Union suggests that it can hold up to ten cards, I think it is much more suitable for 5 to 6 cards especially if your cards are embossed.
This wallet is definitely for you if you are sick and tired of carrying around a bulky wallet and now need something slimmer and more modern.
What’s included in the package?
In the package, you’ll get the wally micro wallet already assembled and ready to use. It is not like other wallets that come with tools to adjust it so that more cards can be fitted.
This wallet may or may not be RFID protected. If it is not and you want peace of mind you, just purchase an RFID blocking card. They are very cheap, you can purchase one from Amazon through this link (RFID wallet Sleeve).
Overview of Features?
The brand is relatively new on the wallet scene but they make great wallets that consumers love. The “Distil” logo is debossed into the leather on one corner.
Not too much to be a showoff but enough for you to know the brand exists and that you have the right product. The older version has Distil Union debossed on it.
The newer one has a more rounded edge and thicker elastic band around its waist. Get it here.

The wallet is a little bigger than a credit card when folded and is reversible, meaning that you can match it to the clothes you are wearing.
There are a number of color options that you can choose from. There is the grey and red, grey and navy, grey and brown, black and grey and black and brow. They all look quite sleek and sexy. The wally pull-tap gives you easy access to your cash.
This cute little wallet is made of two pieces of full-grain leather stitched together with a pull tab through the middle and an elastic band.
You essentially get two wallets for the price of one because of the different color options. Now you have the freedom to mix things up. Who said that wally is boring. Because it is made of leather, it will look better over time as long as the thread does not unravel.
We’ve been testing it in the Black/Gray colorway (which also happens to be the RFID-blocking version—we’ll discuss this more later).
You can also pick up a version of the wallet that’s RFID-blocking, which is what we’ve been testing. Note that at the time of this review the RFID-blocking version only comes in one colorway—Black/Gray. You can check the company’s website because they do not believe the RFID theft is a problem and do not really put RFID blocking in all of their products. If you like the wallet you can purchase an RFID blocking card and put it with your charge cards to prevent skimming. You can get these cheaply on Amazon.
Materials
This lovely slim wallet is made from top quality full grain leather with an elastic strap around the waist of the wallet to hold the cards together and also to stick cash under. It is easy to pull out the card you require for a transaction by simply pulling the pull-tab strap.
Its full-grain leather exterior gives you that traditional old school leather vibe. The leather feels okay for the price and the craftsmanship looks awesome. This slim wallet lets you follow the modern trend of slimmer minimalist wallets without the bulge.
If you look after the leather you will get years of use out of this wallet. Keep it away from direct sunlight, water or heat. It is also a good idea to keep away from oils and lotions.
As long as you treat the leather well, the wallet will age well.
Durability
The wally micro wallet is a well-designed wallet with high-quality materials, made mostly of leather and is expected to last for years.
The elastic band seems quite strong but may lose elasticity over time and may have to be replaced in the future. Having had the wallet for over a year the elastic is still going strong.
Storage
The wallet can hold up to ten cards securely, according to Distil Union. Cash can be carried by sticking it under the elastic band. In my opinion, It holds the cash securely enough but you cannot put too much cash there because the wallet will quickly become bulky.
In carrying cash, you have to fold it three ways for it to fit appropriately. I tend to put my cash in the card slot because it seems more secure there.
You can get access to the cash and cards in the card section by pulling on the wally pull-tab.
Distil claim you can fit between one and 10 cards, it may hold less if your cards are embossed
How to use The wallet?
You can put the cards in from the opposite side of the wallet fold, where the two ends of the bifold wallet meet.
When you need access to the cards simply pull the pull-tab out and access the bottom or top cards easily with the slide of a thumb and/or the forefinger.
Accessing the middle cards is quite easy also. Simply use your thumb to fan the cards out until they buck up against the rubber band and rotate at 45 degrees. Then you can repeat this motion until you can access the card in the middle that you wanted.
When you need to access your cash just take it from under the elastic band. If it is stored in the card section of the wallet just pull it out using the wally pull tab.
Pros
- Fits comfortable in your front pocket.
- Easily hold 7 to 8 cards and still remain slim.
- It is about 0.5 inch in thickness making if perfect for you jacket pocket
- Easy to pull the cards and cash out when they are needed.
Cons
- Some of the Wally Micro wallets do not come with RFID protection, therefore, I carry an RFID shield card.
- No good for carrying coins. You need a coin pouch for that.
Conclusion
I really love this wallet. It has a great design and is one of the most practical slim wallets I’ve tested. It does not work with carrying coins but who carries coins these days. You can purchase a coin pouch for that.
